Nugget Treat Trio

Happy Tuesday, everyone! The days to Christmas are ticking away quickly. Do you ever feel like time is a bit on fast-forward this time of year? I sure do!

I’m sharing another fun treat box with you today. And it’s also another one I learned from The Paper Pixie. When I tell you that she is a 3D packaging genius, I’m not kidding! *wink* This cute little box perfectly holds 3 Hershey nugget treats. But you could easily use it for other things, as well.

I pulled out a combination of both old and new papers as I was making these little gift boxes. I have found that Christmas treats are the perfect way to use retired papers. While you tuck the lid right into the front of the box, I chose to make each of mine close with a tiny Velcro dot. I like the finished look that gives.

I like to use these little gifties for the mailman, my hair dresser, and anyone I think needs a little holiday cheer. And they’re great in combination with a host of other things in a goodie bag.

Festive Treats

Happy Monday, everyone! We’re on the downhill slide to Christmas which means we’re all in the last-minute scramble to gather all the things and make all the treats.

Speaking of which, this week we’re going to be exploring all of the ways we can use our crafty stash to create unique gifts and goodies for our friends and neighbors and family. We’re getting started with a fun little treat box that I learned from The Paper Pixie. If you don’t follow her, you totally should. She makes the best 3D crafty items and provides spot-on, easy-to-follow instructions.

For the particular batch of boxes shown, I pulled out some of my retired stash of holiday papers. I’ve found that treat boxes are often a great way to use up leftover paper. For the box itself, you’ll need one sheet of 8.5×11-inch cardstock. I typically coordinate the box color with the selected patterned paper I’m going to use to decorate it. Here I’ve used Pool Party and Shaded Spruce for these two boxes. I cut three pieces of patterned paper to cover the front flaps and back of the box. I chose not to cover the inside flaps, but you definitely could if you so chose. I used one of the small Velcro dots to fasten the box closed. The front is decorated with some retired ephemera. I’ve filled the current batch of boxes with Ghiradelli squares, but these boxes easily fit other treats too.

I’m making a bunch of these this year — for coworkers, for my choir members, for the mailman, and anyone else who I think just needs a little holiday pick-me-up. They make great stocking stuffers too! I hope you’ll pop in tomorrow to see the next giftie item on the list.

Boo Box

This week’s design theme is 3D projects, and today we’re whipping up a super simple (but simply adorable) treat box using some up-and-coming Online Exclusives. The new Spooky Sweet paper pack and coordinating precut shapes are just adorable. Add a few twinkly stars and some iridescent ribbon and you have the perfect treat box for your trick-or-treaters!

Our treat box is made from Basic Black cardstock. I used two different patterns from the Spooky Sweet paper pack on the box and added a little twinkle with the glimmer paper for an extra pop on the lid. I chose some precut shapes that complimented the patterned paper and helped tell the trick-or-treating story on the lid. A few sparkly stars scattered across the lid finish things off. I found that adding a few finger notches on the sides of the lid, as well as the little tab on the front of the box really helped make the box much easier to open.

Isn’t this box the cutest?! A simple swap of paper and embellishments and you can have a cute little gift box for any occasion! Wanna try making one yourself? You can download the instructions here.

Pillow Anyone?

Did you see yesterday’s post? I’m planning to spend the next several days looking at all of the creative ways that we can use paper to make creative packaging or packaging elements. And today you’re getting a sneak peek at some additional products that I’ve prepped for an upcoming craft fair.

For these cute pillow boxes using an older Stampin’ Up! die set, I dug through my stash of older patterned paper and pulled out these cute fall designs. TIP: I would definitely recommend that you use papers that are heavier cardstock rather than thinner papers to help the boxes hold their shape. These boxes are the perfect size for cash or gift cards, or you can also slide in tea bags or packaged chocolate squares. Or what about slipping this cute box in your kiddo’s lunch box with an encouraging note inside? There are so many gifting possibilities!

Do you like having unique packaging for smaller gifts, like gift cards?

Halloween Treats

Happy Friday, everyone! As I was looking through older posts, I realized that posts had been a little Christmas heavy in the last month or so, and I didn’t want you to think that that meant the upcoming fall holidays weren’t important. Quite the contrary! Fall is my favorite season!

Generally speaking, my customer base does tend to order more Christmas product than fall product, but I still enjoy making and giving products for both Halloween and Thanksgiving to friends and family. And I just happen to be prepping product for a craft fair, so I’ve put my creative hat on to develop some product that I would like to see as a customer.

Each year, I love to make treat boxes for my son’s teachers for holidays, and I’m always looking for new dies to make gift packaging. So today, I wanted to highlight these cute little treat boxes that I made for Halloween using an older Stampin’ Up! die set. Each of these boxes holds two small boxes of Nerdsâ„¢ candy, which is always a favorite with the kiddos. If I happen to know a recipient’s candy preference, then I’ll try to include the fave in the box. Otherwise, I pick a little treat that’s popular, like chocolate.

For this set of boxes, I tried to keep all of the designs cute and not scary since scary isn’t really my jam. I dug through my stash of paper scraps for the decorative elements on each box. These small boxes are perfect for using up scraps! I pulled out some fun Halloween stamps and got to work. Do you like to give little gifties for Halloween?
