Thankful

Thanks Abounds

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Although we were on the go most of the weekend doing the usual errands and chores, we got to enjoy some beautiful weather and time together. And sometimes that makes the most mundane of tasks a lot more enjoyable.

We’re on to a new design series this week, and it seems apropos to do some thankful reflection as Thanksgiving is quickly upon us. I don’t know about you, but outside of personal reflection on thankfulness this time of year, I also try to express words of thanks to others — be it friends, family, coworkers, or someone else who just deserves a word of thanks. So we’re getting started today with a lovely book binding fold that combines the Gathering Together paper with the Label Me Grateful dies and With You in Mind sentiment.

This lovely card comes together in a jiffy thanks to a layout that does all the work. We get started with a base of Early Espresso cardstock. Two different patterns from the Gathering Together paper pack serve as our card front and the inspiration for our sentiment panel. The sentiment panel base is a circle of vellum cut using the Spotlight on Nature dies. A variety of foliage is cut with the Label Me Grateful dies using an assortment of cardstock and specialty paper — Cajun Craze, Earthen Toned Metallic, and Country Woods. The sentiment from With You in Mind is heat embossed in copper on Very Vanilla cardstock and then hand cut with paper snips. The foliage and sentiments are layered on dimensionals over a twist of Mossy Meadow & gold trim. And we finish things off with a few green sparkling sequins.

What a perfect little card to tell someone they’re appreciated! I hope you’ll drop in tomorrow to see where our gratitude takes us for tomorrow’s crafty adventures!

Autumn

Grateful Heart

Although the weatherman tells us it’s fall here in North Texas, in usual Texas fashion, summer refuses to go out quietly. While it’s certainly not August, we’re not quite into the glorious chill of fall mornings or altogether pleasant days either.

But that won’t stop us from continuing this week’s design series – all about fall. And today we’re revisiting the beautiful Splendid Autumn patterned paper and pairing it up with the Label Me Grateful stamps to create a super easy fun fold card. When you have paper as pretty as this, finding a design that takes full advantage is a must! And the simple z-fold design allows you to use the full sheet of paper.

I chose Granny Apple Green as the card base. It really allows all of the colors of the leaves and flowering grasses in our patterned paper to shine. The Splendid Autumn sheet features a winding path through a small grove of fall trees. And as you open the fold, you see the full scene. The sentiment panel is facing front when the card is closed. The sentiment from the Label Me Grateful stamp set is stamped in Timid Tiger ink on white cardstock and then cut out with the Traditional Labels dies. A few In Color flat pearls add the perfect finishing touch to the sentiment panel. It’s adhered over a bow of Timid Tiger and Mossy Meadow & Gold ribbon using dimensionals. We add some green hexagons in opposing corners of the card front. I chose the lightest color so they’re more sparkle than they are a pop of color.

What do you think of this clean & simple design? I hope you’ll tune in for tomorrow’s Sketchy Fridays to see what else we can pull together with our crafty stash of fall-inspired products.

birthday

Cheers to Birthdays!

So sorry to disappear on you yesterday. By the time our day wound down and I got yesterday’s card finished, it was far too dark to take a photo that would do the project any justice.

This week, we’re restocking the birthday card stash by using a variety of products in the crafty stash. We’re pairing up the Label Me Grateful and Gathering Moments dies for today’s card. This design is inspired by a card that I saw on The Crafty O ink Pen over on Insta. And I must say that one of my favorite things about using inspiration is seeing how much or how little you can see the inspiration behind the design once it’s finished. And just for funsies, today I’m gonna show the two side-by-side and you tell me. Can you see it?

What drew me to the inspiration design to start with is our Luv 2 Stamp monthly team challenge bingo card – with one square being to design a fall card. And I figured what better way to kill two birds with one stone than to adapt this super beautiful fall inspiration design to fit the birthday design theme for this week. And one of the first obstacles I had to face was the color palette because I was completely out of my preferred base color of Crushed Curry and had to search for a suitable substitute that would work with the vision I had for the end result. I must admit that the new In Color Darling Duckling is NOT a favorite of mine. And if I’m being completely honest, I pretty much hate it because it has too much green and reminds me of … well, I’ll just say that I prefer not to say and let your mind wander. BUT I decided to give it a try here because I figured this would be the best context in which I ever could potentially use the few sheets of Darling Duckling I have in the stash. And from there, I worked to choose colors and elements that tamed the duck and let thoughts of fall shine.

So we get started with a base of Darling Duckling. I cut an extra quarter panel for the focal panel backdrop and cut it down using the largest Textured Notes die and then machine embossed it with the Forever Plaid embossing folder. This panel is matted with Peach Pie glimmer paper from the In Color pack. We move on to cutting our smaller detail elements with the Label Me Grateful dies using a combination of Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, and the peach end of a sheet of Pastel Ombre glimmer paper. To really hit home with the fall theme, the center sentiment is matted by a large oak leaf cut from Peach Pie glimmer paper using the Gathering Moments die. It’s adhered a little askew in the center of the card and then the smaller fall foliage elements are tucked around on each side in opposing corners and held with strips of tear-n-tape. The sentiment is broken into two distinct but complimentary sections. The first part of the sentiment is from the Scenic Adventure set and is stamped in Early Espresso on white and then cut with the smallest banner die from the Stylish Shapes set. Birthday is stamped on a scrap of white, also in espresso, and then hand cut with paper snips. Both portions are affixed to the center of the card over some gold striped ribbon using several layers of dimensionals. We finish things off with a scattering of Cajun Craze dots and gold drusy embellishments.

This card is one big, fun, fall celebration. I just couldn’t be more pleased with how this morphed into one big sparkly birthday party in an envelope! I hope you’ll drop by tomorrow to see what other fun goodies we can pair together.

Florals in Bloom

Thanks a Bunch

It’s the start of a brand new week. And I must say that it’s laden with some heavy burdens for those of us who live here in Texas as we’ve watched the tragedy of the holiday weekend flooding event in the Hill Country unfold. I saw today that areas of the Carolinas are also experiencing torrential rains and record flooding. So for a lot of us, our thoughts are consumed with a collective sadness and mourning for the loss of life and devastation left behind. I wrote a little about this on Saturday, as well.

But I’m trying to turn my thoughts and focus onto the hope and light that follows all of life’s storms. And so we’re moving onward and upward as we tackle a brand new design theme this week — the Florals in Bloom Suite. This gorgeous suite, which is currently so popular that it’s on backorder, pairs some beautiful floral designs in paper, stamps, and dies, along with a package of the new In Color flat pearls that coordinate beautifully with the paper. We’re pairing up the gorgeous patterned paper with the Label Me Grateful stamps today to create a super simple thank-you card.

Our card gets started with a base of Peach Pie cardstock. Our focal panel is a combination of three papers. Our base is a lovely dashed pattern from the Florals in Bloom paper pack. The main panel is also from this paper pack and combines blue and peach-hued floral stems. I matted the main panel in Summer Splash glimmer paper to bring out the more subtle tones in the focal paper and to give some contrast against the Secret Sea patterned backdrop. I turned this panel askew for a playful look and nice visual interest. The sentiment from the Label Me Grateful stamp set is stamped in Secret Sea on Cloud Cover cardstock and then diecut with the largest label die from the Mixed Labels die set. The sentiment panel is mounted on dimensionals above a lovely decorative bundle of Summer Splash bordered ribbon. We finish things off with some riverside pearls and In Color flat pearls.

Tomorrow we’re going to dancing through the flowers. I hope you’ll come join!

Online Exclusives

Grateful Heart

Happy Independence Day, everyone! We are certainly thankful to live here in the great U. S. of A. and are looking forward to reflecting on all that makes America great!

This week, we’re creating designs using some of the new Online Exclusives that launched this week. Today’s design uses the Label Me Grateful bundle to create a stunning thank-you card.

We get started with a base of Misty Moonlight cardstock. The tone-on-tone backdrop is created using the detail dies in the Label Me Grateful die set. The leaves and twigs are adhered directly to the card base, leaving space in the center for the focal panel. Our focal panel begins with a backdrop of Thoughtful Designs specialty paper cut with the label die from Label Me Grateful. The sentiment from the coordinating stamp set is stamped in a combination of Cloud Cover and Versamark and then heat embossed for a touch of glossy sparkle. And as an added bonus, I happened to have some glitter embossing powder! The sentiment is cut out using the Everyday Arches dies. I had some Country Flowers white glimmer paper flowers leftover from another project that I chose to use as an accent at the bottom of the sentiment panel. I cut a few leaves from Mossy Meadow with the Label Me Grateful die to make the flower look more finished. The sentiment panel is adhered over silver & white sheer ribbon with dimensionals onto the Thoughtful Designs backdrop panel. The focal panel is then adhered in the center of the card with dimensionals. Drusy embellishments finish things off with a nice amount of sparkle.

We’re going to be putting the focus on embellishments for our next project. Hope you pop in to check it out!

Welcome to a bright, shiny week all full of fun and possibilities! We had a nice lowkey weekend. With things really heating up here in North Texas, there wasn’t much fun to be had outside unless you were up for frying an egg on the sidewalk! *wink*

We’re starting a new design series this week. With a whole new set of Online Exclusives dropping tomorrow, we’re going to be taking a closer look at some of the things that I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on. And first up is the Label Me Grateful bundle, which is a set of lovely scripted sentiments and a set of dies that includes a large label and accent pieces. Today, I’m pairing it up with the Timeless Plaid paper to create a nice masculine card.

We get started with a base of neutral Crumb Cake cardstock. A sheet of the green plaid paper from the Timeless Plaid pack serves as our backdrop. I used the label die from the new Label Me Grateful set to cut a piece of Cloud Cover Flower Garden foil. The sentiment from the Label Me Grateful stamp set is stamped in Secret Sea on white cardstock and then cut with the middle label die from the Mixed Labels die set using the extension method. The sentiment is adhered over a twist of the new Mossy Meadow & Gold trim using dimensionals. I cut a few sprigs of greenery and a flower from pastel ombre glimmer paper and tucked them next to the sentiment. One of the new Secret Sea charming shimmer faceted dots serves as the floral center, while gold flecked gems flank the sentiment panel on either side.

Tune in tomorrow to see what’s cooking up next. *spooky*

Make a Difference

We’re finishing out our sentiments design series with a super clean and simple design. This card combines the lovely Florals in Bloom Online Exclusive paper with the up-and-coming Label Me Grateful stamp and die bundle that will release on July 1st.

This card starts with a base of Summer Splash cardstock. A sheet of the Florals in Bloom paper serves as the backdrop for our focal panel. The sentiment from the new Label Me Grateful stamp set is stamped in Pretty Peacock on white cardstock and then diecut using the Something Fancy dies. To help the sentiment really pop against the floral background, we mat it with a panel of Summer Splash glimmer paper that’s cut with the next size die up in the Something Fancy set. We mount the sentiment panel with dimensionals over Lost Lagoon soft cording and some greenery cut from the pastel ombre glimmer paper using the Label Me Grateful detail dies. I added a diecut flower and Petunia Pop iridescent ribbon for some pops of color around the sentiment panel. We finish off with a few charming shimmer faceted dots on either side of the focal section.

I hope this week’s designs have given you a fresh look at your sentiments and how they can stand front and center as easily as they can support a focal image. Tune in next week as we work through a whole week of 3D projects and gift-giving projects.
