Coming Soon · Online Exclusives

Appreciated

Welcome to a bright, shiny week all full of fun and possibilities! We had a nice lowkey weekend. With things really heating up here in North Texas, there wasn’t much fun to be had outside unless you were up for frying an egg on the sidewalk! *wink*

We’re starting a new design series this week. With a whole new set of Online Exclusives dropping tomorrow, we’re going to be taking a closer look at some of the things that I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on. And first up is the Label Me Grateful bundle, which is a set of lovely scripted sentiments and a set of dies that includes a large label and accent pieces. Today, I’m pairing it up with the Timeless Plaid paper to create a nice masculine card.

We get started with a base of neutral Crumb Cake cardstock. A sheet of the green plaid paper from the Timeless Plaid pack serves as our backdrop. I used the label die from the new Label Me Grateful set to cut a piece of Cloud Cover Flower Garden foil. The sentiment from the Label Me Grateful stamp set is stamped in Secret Sea on white cardstock and then cut with the middle label die from the Mixed Labels die set using the extension method. The sentiment is adhered over a twist of the new Mossy Meadow & Gold trim using dimensionals. I cut a few sprigs of greenery and a flower from pastel ombre glimmer paper and tucked them next to the sentiment. One of the new Secret Sea charming shimmer faceted dots serves as the floral center, while gold flecked gems flank the sentiment panel on either side.

Tune in tomorrow to see what’s cooking up next. *spooky*

Greatest Dad Plaid

This week we’re honoring the fellas who answer to DAD. What big, special shoes they fill! And whether a real dad, a bonus dad, or someone who just stands in the gap for a dad, each and every one is worthy of a little something special to let them know they’re loved and appreciated for all they do.

Today, we’re paying homage to dad’s closet as we pull out the Timeless Plaid and tuck a note in the pocket of dad’s favorite shirt. This card comes together in minutes and is sure to bring a smile.

Everything gets started with a base of Misty Moonlight cardstock. I chose two different plaid patterns from the Timeless Plaid paper pack to make the shirt. I really like the contrasting patterns and perfect complimentary color schemes of these two plaids. This 6×6 paper is two-sided, and I chose to have the collar of the shirt match the pocket. So to start, I turned down the top corner of the shirt to create the collar and then cut a piece of the complimentary pattern to cover the pattern on the flap. I chose to adhere the collar directly to the shirt, but you could use a dimensional to give the collar a more realistic look against the shirt. I cut the pocket using the Countryside Corners dies and placed mini dimensionals on the back and set aside. Next up, using the Notes & Totes dies and Very Vanilla cardstock, cut the notecard to tuck in the pocket. The sentiment is a combination of He’s the Greatest and She’s the Greatest stamps and is stamped in Misty Moonlight. A few heart sequins are affixed on either side of DAD. To give some relief between the two contrasting plaid patterns, I added a strip of Misty Moonlight linen thread at the top of the pocket, tucked the sentiment between the dimensionals, and then adhered the pocket to the shirt. We finish things off with some decorative buttons on the pocket and down the shirt using silver faceted gems.

Tomorrow we’re painting the sky just for dad using a fun new technique. I hope you’ll pop by and check it out.

Timeless Thanks

We’re going to close out our week of working with the new Stampin’ Up! Hugs for Love bundle with today’s bonus card. I’m pairing it up once again with the Timeless Plaid paper, which is also a new release, and using Sketch #6 from the new January Mini catalog.

We get started with a base of Boho Blue cardstock. The background panel is a sheet of the Timeless Plaid in blue. I used the reverse side of the Pool Party plaid sheet from the same pack as the center background elements and punched the shapes using the To the Point Label punch. Although it’s difficult to see in the photo, there are very faint lines of Pool Party in the blue plaid sheet, making the Pool Party plaid sheet the perfect compliment to really draw out those subtle stripes. The sentiment panel is stamped on white using the Hugs for Life outline stamp and the sentiment from the Heart Shaped stamp set. The panel is punched with the To the Point Label punch. I tied some Night of Navy linen thread around the background panel and passed it underneath the sentiment panel. I added some rhinestone basic jewels and industrial trinkets to finish things off.

Next week is all about birthdays. I hope you’ll pop in!

Plaid Florals Birthday

We’ve made it to the weekend. What does everyone have in store? We were supposed to be at a school basketball tournament today, but due to the kiddos missing school at the end of the week due to winter weather, that’s been postponed. So we’re off to bowl the weekend league tournament instead, assuming we can get out of the icy driveway, that is.

This week, we’ve been working with the Mixed Media Florals bundle of products. And today, we’re closing things out by combining this fabulous bundle with the Timeless Plaid designer series paper and a loose take on Sketch #5 from the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.

We get started with a base of Early Espresso cardstock, which brings out all of the subtle shades of brown in our Timeless Plaid background panel. A flowers-only patterned sheet from the Mixed Media Florals paper pack serves as our focal backdrop. I love how the slight turn askew adds a bit of whimsy and interest to this patterned paper and really draws the eye to our focal image. The focal image is a bundle of flowers that is cut from one of the smaller notecards in the Mixed Media Florals Memories & More kit. I cut around the florals to give it the look of a diecut piece and mounted it on dimensionals to ensure it really catches your eye. I cut a partial panel from the pastel ombre glimmer paper using the smaller decorative banner from the Mixed Labels die set. The sentiment is also from the Memories & More kit and is also mounted on dimensionals so that it overlaps all 3 of the panels that comprise our focal layer. I added a bit of gold thread behind the sentiment to ensure that the eye falls and rests on the sentiment. A few shiny sequins in various colors across the card front add some extra sparkle.

Next week, we’re going to be working with the Hugs for Love bundle to show how it can work for you for so much more than Valentine designs. I hope you’ll come along for the ride!
