Appreciate You

Happy Saturday, friends! It’s been a busy day here as we’ve made preparations for our first deep cold snap of the season. And in true Texas fashion, that means that today was hot and sunny! *snicker*

Today we’re rounding out our trekking through the outdoors series. And what a fun opportunity to make another card combining old and new with Nests of Winter, Elegant Pine Snowflakes, and Words of Beauty.

We start with a sheet of Pretty Peacock as our card base. A sheet of the Elegant Pine Snowflakes is the perfect backdrop for our tufted titmouse pair from the Nests of Winter paper pack. Circles of Regal Distressed Patterns and Earthen Tone Metallic help our feathered friends really shine. The circles are cut with the Spotlight on Nature dies and then the birds are adhered on top with dimensionals. The sentiment from Words of Beauty are heat embossed in copper on white paper and then cut with the banner die from the coordinating die set. The sentiment panel is adhered over Pretty Peacock and gold ribbon with dimensionals. And we finish things off with a touch of copper sparkle with the drusy embellishments across the front.

Next we’re going to be in thankful mode before turning our thoughts to the Christmas holidays. I hope you’ll drop by and see all the ways you can share thankfulness next week!

On My Mind

Happy Monday, crafty friends! It was a busy weekend here in the studio as I worked furiously all weekend to make Christmas-themed product for an upcoming craft show. While I made a lot of progress, I still have quite a ways to go to be fully prepared for a Christmas market. Eeek!

But I digress. This week, we’re on to a new design theme, and I thought we would continue to hang out in the woods this week. The fun thing about a general theme is that we get a lot of freedom to pull all kinds of things from our crafty stash. *grin* And I’ll be sneaking in some of the new Online Exclusives that I snagged in my preorder.

So today we’re getting started with a sketch. When I saw the Freshly Made Sketches #709, I knew exactly what I wanted to pair together — the new Winter Scenes stamp set, the Elegant Pine Snowflakes paper, and the brand new Words of Beauty stamp set (releasing tomorrow!).

I kept things super simple with today’s color palette. We get started with a base of Basic White cardstock. The sheet of white snowflakes from the Elegant Pine Snowflakes pack serves as our backdrop. Our focal panel starts with the mountain scene from the Winter Scenes stamp set on a postage stamp of white cardstock cut with the smaller square from the Perennial Postage die set. I did some light shading with Stampin’ Blends to add a touch of color to the scene and covered the scene with Wink of Stella for the perfect snowy twinkle. This scene is matted with some silver brushed silver and a square of Lost Lagoon cut with one of the smaller squares from the Stylish Shapes die set. The sentiment panel is a smaller banner cut from white cardstock using the Stylish Shapes dies. The sentiment from the *new* Words of Beauty stamp set is stamped in Pretty Peacock and then flanked with some silver drusy embellishments before being adhered on the back of the winter mountain scene panel. The full panel is adhered in the bottom-left corner with dimensionals.

Super simple but oh-so stunning, don’t you think? I hope you’ll tune in tomorrow to see where our trek in the woods takes us!

Celebrate the Snowy Season

Welcome to the weekend, crafty friends! What have you gotten up to? It’s a beautiful day here in N. Texas. We started out our day at the bowling alley for the kiddos’ weekly league games. And our afternoon has been a mixed bag. We started with a trip to a local wildlife rehabber after rescuing one of our backyard doves from the clutches of one of our outside cats. The exciting life of owning pets!

But on to some crafty things as we close out our week of snowy designs. Today we’re using the snowflakes from the Elegant Pine Snowflakes suite to create our window card design. I recently saw a peek-through window design that I just loved and it made me think about how this beautiful set could create a peek-through scene.

So we get started with a base of Shaded Spruce cardstock. The center section has been removed to insert the window sheet section. Each side of the front panel cardstock pieces are covered with the evergreen patterned sheet from the Elegant Pine Snowflakes paper pack. The snowflake is cut from another sheet and then adhered on the window section. The sentiment from the Delicate Pines stamp set is stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed with gold embossing powder on vellum. The panel is then cut with one of the smaller banner dies from the Stylish Shapes set using the extension method. It’s adhered with tear-n-tape over the snowflake.

The inside panel of the card begins with white cardstock. I used the window sheet as a stamping block, which made lining up the images a 100% guarantee. I started layering with the largest snowflake from the Delicate Pines stamp set then the middle-sized snowflake image, and then the feather flake. The pinecones are stamped in the negative space of the snowflake in Crumb Cake. I wanted a bit of detail peeking through when the card is closed and so I stamped a group of pinecones in Early Espresso and then surrounded them on either side with pine branches stamped in Shaded Spruce. The sentiment from the same Delicate Pines set is stamped in Real Red in the bottom-center of the panel. Both the inside and outside panels are finished with Traditional Sparkling sequins for the perfect amount of sparkle and pops of contrasting colors.

I hope you’ve enjoyed our snowflake series this week. Next week, we’re headed back to more fall-inspired designs. I think you’ll find some of the twists pretty fun. Hope you’ll tune in and see what’s in store!

Snowy Window

Thanks for dropping in today, friends! After a looooong day at work yesterday, I didn’t have any zip left to play in the craft room. But never fear, that childhood throwback card is coming to you tomorrow!

But today, we’re hopping along with the Luv 2 Stamp Group over on Instagram. And we’re continuing our snowflake series as we combine the Elegant Pine Snowflakes paper with the Winter Scenes stamps to create today’s shaker window card. Let’s check it out.

We get started with a base of Pretty Peacock cardstock. Two panels of the Pretty Peacock frost pattern from the Elegant Pine Snowflakes paper cover both the front and back of our front card panel. The window is cut using the Everyday Arches dies, and I ran the whole sheebang through the machine a couple of times to be sure it cut all the way through all of the layers. Acetate window sheets create our shaker panel, and we adhere one on each side of our card front, filling the shaker with sparkly things, and then adhering our patterned paper covers on each side. We dressed up the window with two small arches cut from white cardstock using nesting dies from the Everyday Arches set. And then the upper corner of the window has a snowflake cut from a combination of Peaceful Garden silver glimmer paper and a sheet of the Elegant Pine Snowflakes paper. This snowflake is the perfect compliment to our snowy winter scene.

The smallest center arched piece is used for our image panel. The image from the Winter Scenes stamp set is stamped in black and then colored with a combination of Stampin’ Blends and blending brushes. To give it the sparkle of falling and fallen snow, I covered the snowy bits with Wink of Stella. The sentiment from the Greetings for You ephemera pack is adhered over Balmy Blue sheer ribbon with several layers of dimensionals and affixed underneath the focal image. A few Traditional Sparkling sequins on the inside and outside focal panels finish things off with the perfect amount of twinkle.

Today’s card is a part of the Luv 2 Stamp Group Instagram Hop, which goes live at 9 AM Pacific Time (PST).  Click here to head over to my Instagram feed at 9 AM Pacific/11 AM Central and check out what the other demos in our L2S Group have created for you today!

Season of Snow

Welcome back, friends. This week, we’re having all kinds of snowy fun as we explore some of the great snow-inspired products in our crafty stash. Today’s clean and simple design uses the Elegant Pine Snowflakes products and Greetings for You ephemera to create this lovely embossed design. Let’s check it out.

We get started with a base of Secret Sea cardstock. The focal panel starts with a sheet of the Elegant Pine Snowflakes patterned paper, which we’re going to mat with a sheet of the Cloud Cover Flower Garden Foils specialty paper. I really wanted the patterned paper to take center stage, so I opted for an embossed effect for the focal images. I arranged three of the Delicate Pines stamps over the coordinating images in the paper and stamped in Versamark before heat embossing with clear embossing powder. I just love this shimmery, raised effect that really draws attention to the beautiful detailed snowflakes. We finish things off with a ’tis the season sentiment from the Greetings for You ephemera pack, which is mounted over a twist of Mossy Meadow & Gold ribbon using dimensionals. A scatter of Old Olive sparkling sequins finish things off with a touch of coordinating color.

Tomorrow we’re going to have a throwback to our childhood as we use the paper snowflake effect. I hope you’ll drop in and check it out!

Joyful Flakes

Welcome to fall, y’all! When I was choosing this week’s design theme, ironically, I didn’t even think to make it coincide with the changing of the seasons here. That’s a real face-palm moment, don’t ya think? *snicker* But that’s just the way it goes sometimes when you’re excited about digging into some new crafty goodness.

This week, we’re delving into everything SNOW. There are some wonderful new snowy products in the new SU! Holiday Mini catalog and Online Exclusives that I can’t wait to show you. And today we’re getting started with a mixture of Elegant Pine Snowflakes & Snowy Delights to create this beautiful card. I decided on the word joy from the Greetings for You ephemera pack because snowflakes bring me joy. What about you?

Our card today gets started with a base of Cloud Cover cardstock. This brings out the subtle hues of blue in our background paper from the Elegant Pine Snowflakes paper pack. Our trio of snowflakes is built from two sets of dies – Delicate Pines and Snowy Delights. Using a scrap of the Elegant Pine Snowflakes paper, I cut several different sized snowflakes from a corner of the sheet. I paired up the larger printed snowflake with some of the Summer Splash glimmer paper and cut a detailed snowflake to go behind using the Snowy Delights die. Before adhering the two layers together, I sandwiched a faux bow of Lost Lagoon soft cording in between. The smaller snowflakes are paired with some Shy Shamrock glimmer paper cut using one of the smaller detail snowflake dies from the Delicate Pines die set. They’re adhered together with dimensionals to give them a more realistic depth of field before adhering them to the backdrop with dimensionals. Each snowflake has a center of Traditional Sparkling sequins. The sentiment from the Greetings for You ephemera pack is adhered toward the bottom-center of the card front. (HINT: did you know that these sentiments are already sticky? Just peel the backing & stick!) I added another sparkling sequin as the tittle for J in joy. A few blue sequins in opposing corners finish things off perfectly.

I hope you’ll drop in tomorrow to see what other snowy goodness there is in store!

Golden Winter Wishes

TGIF, friends! We made it to Friday. And I don’t know about you but I skidded into the end of the work week with my pants on fire. Whew! I have equally as many things on the weekend to-do list — but at least it’s a mixture of the fun and necessary.

This week we’re exploring a design theme — all that glitters is gold — and we’re using all of the fun sparkly gold goodies from the crafting stash. I’ve been mixing up the old & the new to create this week’s projects. And today’s card is a sneak peek at a couple of new snowflake-themed products that released just a few weeks ago. We’re mixing the Elegant Pine Snowflake suite with the Snowy Delights dies to create this winter-inspired card.

The snowflake is the real star of the show here, so we’re keeping things clean and simple with this layout. We get started with a base of Basic White cardstock. The background panel is a piece of the Elegant Pine Snowflake paper. I tied some of the iridescent striped ribbon around the bottom to add some mysterious, ethereal sheen. Our gorgeous snowflake consists of a backdrop of gold textured metallic paper cut with the largest Snowy Delights die. Then our intricate detailed layer is a sheet of silver glimmer paper from the Peaceful Garden pack cut with the detailed die from the Snowy Delights set. The detailed snowflake is adhered over the gold glimmery backdrop with dimensionals. The full snowflake is adhered to our background panel with dimensionals above the shimmery ribbon. The sentiment from the Delicate Pines stamp set is stamped in Pretty Peacock on white paper and then diecut with one of the smaller dies from the Traditional Labels set. We adhered our sentiment with several layers of dimensionals over double pine boughs cut from Mossy Meadow using the Delicate Pines die. Our design is finished off with some frosted iridescent dots in opposing corners for just a hint of sparkle as the card turns from side to side. I wish you could see all of the sparkle!

Tune in tomorrow to see the fun sparkly project I have in store for you!
