Good Courage

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Halfway through the week we already are. As I mentioned on Monday, it’s been run-run-run around here as we adjust to our schoolyear routine. On that note, you may have noticed that I haven’t released a new Terrific Tuesdays video the last 2 weeks and that is why. We’ve focused on family time and getting adjusted to the new routine. I’m working on some new fun folds that I look forward to sharing with you in the next episode, so have no fear, new content is coming!

But for now, this week we’re sneak peeking into the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog that goes live on September 6th. And today’s card design features a new bundle called Nests of Winter, which includes coordinating patterned paper, stamps, dies, embossing folder, shimmer gems, and linen thread. I really love when the dies and paper can be used together, and our card today showcases that beautifully. So let’s take a closer look.

We get started with a base of Shaded Spruce cardstock. Our background panel consists of two different patterns from the Nests of Winter paper pack. I paired the Garden Green stripe with the white birch pattern. I used the Winterly Treetops dies to diecut the bird elements. One of the patterns in the paper pack includes them both, and I liked the look of them both together on one card. Our sentiment from the Courage & Faith set is stamped in black on white cardstock and then diecut using the Greetings of the Season die. I carefully placed the oriole over the pre-punched hole in the die. I placed a twist of Shaded Spruce satin & sheer ribbon behind the sentiment panel to make our color palette more cohesive and added a few drusy embellishments to add sparkle and draw the eye across our design.

This suite would pair perfectly with the sketches in the Annual Catalog. And BONUS, there’s a whole new set of sketches in the Holiday Mini catalog, too! And I look forward to sharing more of this suite with you so you can appreciate just how wonderful it is.

Tomorrow we’re going wild with ephemera. Tune in to see how you can shortcut your way to beautiful cards!

A Friend Like You

Well, the kiddo had a great first day of school yesterday and now we’re just working on getting back into the schoolyear routine. Anyone else feel like that gets more challenging as they get older? For now, I’m just trying to stay afloat and keep all of the balls in the air. So things will be a little less predictable here in Song Sparrow land this week.

Speaking of this week, we’re on to a new card design series. Each day this week, we’re going to taking a sneak peek at items that will be offered in the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini Catalog. And today, we’re looking at another pack of gorgeous patterned paper called Splendid Autumn. This 6×6 paper pack is another in the line of watercolor paper designs and, just like the packs that have come before it, Splendid Autumn does NOT disappoint! Each and every sheet is just stunning. And today, it’s standing front and center in this clean and simple card design. So let’s get a closer look at how this comes together.

We start with a base of Blackberry Bliss cardstock. I chose the bridal wreath wildflower patterned sheet from the Splendid Autumn designer series paper pack as the focal panel. The sentiment from the new stamp set called Winterly Tree Tops is stamped on white cardstock and then diecut using the new set of dies called Peaceful Season. I added some Blackberry Bliss gems to the center of each design on each end of the sentiment for a little added sparkle. Before adhering the sentiment with dimensionals to the focal panel, I added a faux bow of Cajun Craze and Garden Green linen thread behind. A few extra iridescent faceted gems and a little butterfly diecut from Graceful Greenery vellum diecut with the Painted Lavender die finish things off nicely.

I’ll be showing you more of the newest patterned papers in the coming weeks, but what do you think of this teaser? Is this paper not just beautiful?! Tune in tomorrow as we take a look at another soon-to-release paper pack, along with its coordinating stamp and die set. You really won’t want to miss it!

Thinking of You Always

Welcome to a bright, new shiny week, crafty friends! It’s started off a busy one here for sure, hence the lateness of my post. Today is the first day of school in our school district. Don’t you find it funny when you’ve spent weeks with your kid picking out new clothes for school and kid then decides to wear things he’s worn a hundred times?!

This week, I thought it would be fun to tour the box of preorder goodies I just received for the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog. So each day, I’ll be bringing you a sneak peek of items that will be available in my online store on September 4th. Ready??

We’re getting started today with some gorgeous designer series paper called Regal Winter. This paper pack is full of gorgeous floral images in hues of Berry Burst, Blackberry Bliss, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy, Pretty Peacock, Shaded Spruce, and Wild Wheat. And it’s even prettier in person! I have soooo many ideas running in my head for this paper, and I decided to start simple with one of my favorite fun folds. So let’s see how this barn fold comes together.

We get started with a base of Blackberry Bliss cardstock. This is scored so that our short edges meet in the center of the standard-sized card front. Our focal panel is matted in textured gold paper and I chose a sheet of floral pattern in Blackberry Bliss from the Regal Winter pack. Our sentiment panel is matted in a base of gold mercury vellum that has been diecut using the Greetings of the Season dies. The sentiment from the new stamp set called Winterly Tree Tops is stamped in black on white cardstock and is then diecut using the Unbounded Love dies. I tucked some gold greenery stems behind the sentiment panel, which are diecut from gold foil paper with the Painted Lavender dies. A twist of the new Blackberry Bliss & Gold textured ribbon helps tie things together. I added a few of the new drusy embellishments around the sentiment for extra sparkle and pizzazz, and let me just say, they call these gems drusy for a reason! (drusy: dru·sy  zē usually -er/-est covered with minute crystals : containing cavities lined with crystals)

Tomorrow, things are going to feel a little more like Autumn. I hope you’ll pop in and check it out!

Grateful Leaves

We’re closing out our sneak peek of the upcoming Online Exclusive bundle called Changing Leaves. This bundle, which includes a photopolymer stamp set, coordinating dies, and a hybrid embossing folder, launches in my online store on July 3rd! We’re rounding out this week’s designs with an earth tone color palette and a simple layout.

We get started on today’s card with a base of Cajun Craze cardstock. The background panel is a piece of the Cajun Craze Tartan Foil designer paper. Our focal panel is three layers of neutral goodness with a Deckled Rectangle mat of Early Espresso, a larger straight-edged mat of Very Vanilla, and an embossed layer of Early Espresso using the Changing Leaves embossing folder. I just love the deep impression you get every time with this embossing folder. It shows so much detail in the leave patterns. The sentiment panel is a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock diecut using the Nested Essentials dies, and the sentiment from Something Fancy is heat embossed in copper. I used a twist of Cajun Craze twine (releasing in the fall!) and added some copper sequins around the panel for eye-catching sparkle. A piece of linen thread would also work perfectly behind the sentiment.

This week, I really wanted to highlight how you can use the new Changing Leaves bundle in so many different ways. We’ll run another series closer to fall to showcase how you can pair this beautiful bundle with many other Stampin’ Up! products to stretch the design possibilities even further. But next week, we’re going to say HELLO to the Hollyhocks. I hope you’ll join me!

Note to Brighten Your Day

This week, we’re getting a sneak peek at the upcoming Online Exclusive called Changing Leaves. This bundle includes photopolymer stamps, coordinating dies, and a hybrid embossing folder. Today, I wanted to highlight another way you can use this set to create something other than a fall-themed card with a bright and cheery color palette and a fun complimentary product pairing.

Today’s card is all about a little friendly encouragement. With a fun color palette and incorporation of the Friends for Life set, we have a a terrific note to brighten someone’s day.

We get started with a card base of Summer Splash cardstock. Our background panel is a sheet of the Flowering Zinnias designer paper. Our focal panel backdrop is a leaf pattern using the Changing Leaves stamps. I used one of my larger stamp blocks to arrange my leaf stamps in a pattern I liked. I then layered the ink on the stamps for an ombre-looking effect by starting with Summer Splash over the entirety of the leaf images, then placing Old Olive up the centers, and then lightly tapping the edges with Pretty Peacock. I stamped these twice to get my panel, cut it to size, and then matted with Pretty Peacock for a nice contrast against the Flowering Zinnia DSP panel.

For the sentiment panel, start by diecutting the word friend using the Friends for Life dies. The background is Summer Splash glimmer paper, while the detail lettering is Summer Splash cardstock. The sentiment from Changing Leaves is stamped in Pretty Peacock on white cardstock and then diecut using the smallest banner from the Nested Essentials die set using the extension method. I liked the look of stitching on either end of the sentiment banner to really draw the eye in and give some interest. The sentiment is mounted on dimensionals over a twist of Pretty Peacock & Gold metallic ribbon. A scattering of the blue iridescent discs gives some eye-catching sparkle to draw the eye in.

Tomorrow we’re wrapping up our sneak peek of the Changing Leaves bundle with an earthy palette. I hope you’ll pop by and take a look.

Words Fail

This week we’re taking a sneak peek at the upcoming Online Exclusive by Stampin’ Up! called Changing Leaves. This bundle of products includes a stamp set, dies, and hybrid embossing folder. I love all of the detail included in the images in this set, and I’ve enjoyed thinking outside the box when designing with it. This set, although full of gorgeous fall foliage images, lends itself to all sorts of fun designs that don’t immediately make you think of fall. And today’s card is another example. So let’s get started.

I wanted a light and bright color palette for this thank-you card. I did let Mother Nature do a little of the talking with the choices in leaf color but then I worked to fill in with some fun complimentary colors. Our card begins with a base of Flirty Flamingo cardstock. The background panel is a quarter panel of Petal Pink embossed with the soon-to-release Changing Leaves embossing folder. I cut this panel down a bit to have a nice border of Flirty Flamingo all around. Our focal images are a whole smattering of stamped and diecut leaves from the soon-to-release Changing Leaves stamp set. All of the images are stamped tone-on-tone. Two of the larger leaves are stamped on Old Olive and Summer Splash with the two smaller leaves stamped on Lemon Lolly and Peach Pie. I added a few sparkly elements with the Peach Pie and Summer Splash foliage tucked in the mix. The sentiment from Simply Zinnia is stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock and diecut with the Autumn Leaves die set using the extension method. (For more on using the die extension method, check out this quick tutorial.) I tucked a faux bow of Petal Pink diagonal trim behind the sentiment panel and added a few Peach Pie shimmer gems across the card front for added sparkle.

Today’s card is a part of the Luv 2 Stamp Group Instagram Hop, which goes live at 9 AM Pacific Time (PST). Click here to head over to my Instagram feed and check out what the other demos in our L2S Group have created for you today!

Amazing Leaves

Welcome to another fabulous day and another sneak peek at the new Stampin’ Up! Online Exclusive bundle called Changing Leaves. This brand new bundle is set to launch on July 3rd and includes a set of photopolymer stamps, coordinating dies, and a hybrid embossing folder. Today, we’re taking a closer look at that gorgeous hybrid embossing folder and putting it to work.

We get started with a card base of Pretty Peacock cardstock. A strip of the Pretty Peacock Oxidized Copper designer paper serves as a backdrop for our center focal point. The base of our focal point is a sheet of the Early Espresso woodgrain paper from the Country Woods designer paper pack that has been diecut using the Nested Essentials set and then adhered to the card base using dimensionals. The gorgeous leaves are diecut from a sheet of the Copper Clay Tartan Foil specialty paper using the soon-to-release Changing Leaves hybrid embossing folder, which both cuts and embosses at the same time, and then adhered to the focal panel with dimensionals. The sentiment from the soon-to-release Changing Leaves stamp set is stamped in Versamark on Very Vanilla cardstock and then heat embossed with copper embossing powder. Eeek — I’m so excited! The upcoming Online Exclusives release has a little bit of everything, including some holiday items. And all this week, I’ll be showing you the gorgeous Changing Leaves bundle, which includes a set of photopolymer stamps, coordinating dies, and a hybrid embossing folder. So let’s get started!

Unbounded Sympathy

We’re wrapping up our week in the fields and flowers with a sneak peek of some product from the NEW 2024-25 Annual Catalog that Stampin’ Up! will release in May. The Unbounded Love suite includes gorgeous papers, stamps, dies, and embellishments.

No one really likes to have to send sympathy cards, but I do love knowing that I have designed a very personal card with the recipient in mind.

This design begins with a base of the NEW Pretty in Pink In Color cardstock. The focal panel is a sheet of the Unbounded Beauty floral paper pack. I really wanted this stunning paper to take center stage, so I kept the remainder of the card design very simple. A strip of the new Summer Splash In Color glimmer paper serves as the backdrop for the sentiment panel. The sentiment from the new Unbounded Love set is stamped in the new Petunia Pop ink on white cardstock and diecut with the coordinating Unbounded Love dies. The leaves are cut from the new Shy Shamrock In Color glimmer paper. A twist of the new Pretty in Pink bordered ribbon and silver trim and a few new In Color shimmer gems finish things off and really help draw the eye to the sentiment.

Next week, I’m planning to take things to the zoo — the Zoo Crew, that is. I hope you’ll come along as we bid farewell to one of my favorites from the 2023-24 Annual Catalog!

Products used in this card design:
Pretty in Pink (coming soon!), Basic White cardstock

Sending Flowers

We’re finishing off our frolic in the fields with a look at some brand NEW product that will be available in the 2024-25 Annual Catalog releasing in May.

The Thoughtful Journey 6×6 paper pack offers a whole array of watercolor images in soft tones. There are floral landscapes and beautiful abstract backgrounds. These papers will lend themselves to any number of occasions with ease.

Today’s card is a very clean and simple design. The base is white cardstock with a single strip of designer paper offset to the right side. I chose the lovely thistle pattern with soft tones of Petunia Pop and Pretty in Pink — two of the NEW In Colors. The sentiment from Simply Zinnia is stamped in Petunia Pop and heat embossed with clear embossing powder on a strip of vellum. A strip of white diagonal trim is tied around the bottom of the sentiment in a simple square knot. I finished things off with a small paper butterfly and shimmer gems in the new 2024-2026 In Colors.

Join me this afternoon as I give a quick preview of another NEW bundle of products from the upcoming 2024-25 Annual Catalog called Unbounded Beauty.
