Have you seen the One Horse Open Sleigh designer series paper that is currently available in the Online Exclusives section of my online store? Every single sheet of paper in this 6×6 pack is gorgeous! It makes them so hard to cut and use! So I’m designing cards that use as much of each sheet in one card design as possible.
And I’m going to be bringing you a series of videos that show you how you can make stunning cards with the One Horse Open Sleigh paper pack, and your supply list will be pretty simple for each design because we’re going to have this beautiful paper take center stage in each design.
First up is this cozy cottage scene. We’ll be making a single panel z-fold card together using this sheet of designer paper. Won’t you join me?

This week we are focusing on the additional design offerings in A Walk in the Forest designer series paper pack offered by Stampin’ Up! in the next Holiday Mini catalog which goes live next week. All of the designs are festive, but I especially love the holiday greenery designs because they are so versatile. I saw this fun fold design using a different designer paper and was inspired to create this card.
After seeing this fun z-fold design, I felt like it lent itself well to making a card that felt like a beautiful double door with a holiday wreath hanging on the front. A sheet of Crumb Cake serves as the card base and helps the lighter elements of the paper, like the branches and music notes, really stand out. The gold glimmer vellum keeps things festive and draws out the gold embossing and foiling on the outer portion of the card. I kept the interior of the card light and bright with a sheet of the white foiled holly design from the Joyful specialty paper pack.
This z-fold design also works really with designer series paper sheets that I like to call story sheets. They’re the designs that really look best when you can use larger portions because they have a scene that encompasses a much larger footprint of the sheet of paper. I’ll be showcasing a story sheet design with this fun fold in a few days and that post will include a video tutorial.

The end of August presents many opportunities for new birthday designs as we have lots of friends celebrating birthdays. So this week I cranked out several cards for friends with birthdays in the next week.
First up is this cute fella buzzing in to bring some birthday cheer. This design is for one of my son’s friends. They’re in those awkward preteen years so it’s always hard to know which way to go with card themes, but something whimsical really fits this particular kiddo’s personality. So I pulled out the Zoo Crew designer paper and fussy cut this scootering fox as the focal image. I added a little color and some Wink of Stella here and there on the image from the DSP to add more color and realism to the image. I thought it would be cute to have foxy motoring in the birthday balloons, so I diecut a set from various shades of cardstock and added a little Wink of Stella for some added pizzazz. The whole scene sits atop a piece of embossed cardstock matted on Pretty Peacock cardstock to really help the whole scene stand out nicely.

I had a lot of fun building this cute birthday scene. Once again, I pulled out my Zoo Crew designer paper for this adorable croc pedaling in some flowers. I kicked up the color by adding some to the bike and flowers and also added a bundle of balloons to punch up the birthday theme here. To help it feel as though the croc is trekking to a party, I added some simple trees and a cloud as background scenery.

Have any adventure types in your circle of friends or family? There’s a terrific sheet of Zoo Crew DSP for that! And I pulled it out and started working on a scene for my outdoorsy friend. I used a circle punch to cut out the scene with the lion roasting a marshmallow. I used the Zany Zoo dies to cut the adorable birdwatching skunk and then fussy cut the mountains and trees. I filled in with a lot of color using the Stampin’ Blends markers to really help the scene come to life. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rank my coloring skills about a 4, but I’m pretty pleased with how things came out for this design.
The papers included in the O Holy Night designer series paper pack are jaw-droppingly stunning. This diagonal Z fun fold card design affords the opportunity to highlight several patterns while also telling a story through the design, and I just love that.
The base of this card is Night of Navy cardstock. I selected various patterns of the O Holy Night designer paper that felt as though they moved through the Bethlehem story — from the starry sky to the dessert to the village of Nazareth in the distance. O Holy Night is embossed in gold in the starry sky, while the Star of Bethlehem is cut from Smoky Slate using the Stars at Night hybrid embossing folder and dies. A touch of Wink of Stella on the star really makes it sparkle. Can you picture yourself here on that holy night?

Today’s design was super fun to create. A fellow demonstrator (if I can remember who, I will update with a link) posted a design with a truck and trailer, which I thought was brilliant! Because this is a personal design going to a friend, I dug into my stash of some of my favorite retired product, as well as using some fun current products, to make this card pop with lots of flashy flare!
I decided to make this a diagonal split fold to incorporate some of my favorite Bright & Beautiful designer paper patterns and to really make the center image panel stand out. I stamped the background scene on a piece of white cardstock before I diecut using the Nested Essentials die. I then stamped and punched the tuck separately to add depth to the scene and allow the truck and numbers to stand out. To make the trailer, I first stamped the entire truck and then punched out just the back portion. The numbers were cut using a retired set of dies called Number of Years and I gave them an extra layer of dimensionals to allow them to stand up taller than anything else on the image panel. This design is even cuter in person and I’m really hoping that the recipient loves it!

Today’s card design is the fourth in the Irresistible Birthday card pack series. This designer series paper has been so fun to work with because it lends itself to so many possibilities. And this card leans much more feminine in both palette and overall feel.
I really have a hard time working with shades of orange. Believe it or not, this card base is a shade of coral, and this card came together easily. Hello Irresistible has really been a delight to work with for that very reason.
This design plays to the feminine vibes with all of the sparkle. From the gold-laced ribbon to pops of gold in sequins to the tiniest sparkle around the sentiment panel with Wink of Stella, this card really shines!
This fun fold reminds me of a barn door with the card opening in the center. Don’t you think? If you’re interested in how this design came together, go check it out over on Instagram!

Today we’re taking a look at the third design in the new birthday pack called Irresistible Birthday that will be up in the Etsy shoppe later this week. This design is based on a new fun fold I learned from Sharon Armstrong. The original design has been adapted to exclude a few layers in order to lighten up the design, but it does not lose any of the drama of this unique fun fold.
This showcases yet another sampling of the SU! Hello, Irresistible designer paper. One of the things I really loved about this design was the ability to use every scrap of the gorgeous paper on both the inside and outside panels of the card. And who says a masculine card can’t have a little sparkle? This design is punched up with a few eye-catching features — silver pearls, iridescent sequins, and the touch of Wink of Stella around the edges of the sentiment elements.

Today I’m sharing another design in the Irresistible Birthday card pack that will be available in the Etsy shoppe at the end of the week. I had a lot of fun learning this new fun fold that my mom shared with me (originally shared by Dawn Griffith). The original design is a square card, and I like to keep all of my designs a standard size that doesn’t require special envelopes or additional postage. So I resized the original to be a standard-sized vertical card. Because I didn’t want to make any mistakes with my “good paper,” I worked on getting all of the measurements and folds just right by using paper from our shredding bin. And now I have a workable template where I scribbled all of the measurements as I went. Do you ever make templates? It helps me to keep all of the instructions I scribble down straight with what they actually make!
I am really loving the versatility of this designer paper. The first design in the Irresistible Birthday card pack really lent itself to being more masculine, but this card is definitely softer and more feminine. It’s the perfect combination of pale pinks and soft, rosey oranges. And I think the fun fold design really adds some fun to this card!

I’m working more with combinations of patterns with the latest designs. It’s still quite a challenge for me, but I do feel like designs came much more easily with this set. And what could be more fun than bright designs and fun folds?! This newest card pack called Bright and Beautiful Birthday will be available in the shoppe later this week.
I focused on the SU! Bright and Beautiful and Zoo Crew designer series paper packs in designing this set. As I was sketching out design ideas, it seemed natural to focus on a birthday theme. The bright colors and fun patterns just lent themselves easily to it. And to me, birthday designs call for fun folds! Let’s take a closer look at each card.

I tried out some new card folds over the weekend. I like to experiment with retired papers so that, if it happens to not go well, I haven’t sacrificed new product in the process of learning a new technique.
This suite of cards features the Paper Blooms designer paper. I’m especially pleased with the two new foldover designs and will definitely be incorporating these folds on a more regular basis. Both are simple to make and produce stunning designs.
If you’re interested in purchasing any of the designs you see featured here, pop over to my Etsy shop.
