Holiday Happiness

Even subtle patterns can lend themselves beautifully to a stunning card design. The newest designer paper called Joy of Christmas has several designs that could be overlooked, but when paired together in the right combination, they really sing beautifully!

Here Shaded Spruce serves as the card base, but the stunning backdrop is a sheet of designer paper with a very subtle holly pattern. When paired with a foiled woodgrain and sheet of holly printed in red, it works together to create a stunning background for the greenery and really allows the sentiment to be the proper focal point of the design. I wanted it to feel as though the holiday message had been tacked to a holiday tree. How do you think it came out?

Joyful Patterns

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is all of the beautiful patterns in clothing and blankets. I love to snuggle up in a soft flannel shirt with a warm fleece blanket in front of the fire with a cup of cocoa or hot apple cider. Don’t you?

The patterns in the new Joy of Christmas and Joyful designer series paper packs in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog borrow from all of the beautiful and comforting holiday patterns that so many of us love and adore. I wanted this card to feel like you were walking in the winter woods in a warm flannel. So this design features a combination of greenery, woodgrain, and plaid patterns. The gold elements dress things up and really help to convey the bright happiness of the holidays.

Season of Sparkle

Today I am very excited to debut another set of new products from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog. This card design is the first of five designs in a new card pack called Joyful Tidings, which is available for purchase in the Etsy shoppe.

This card highlights some beautiful designer paper designs from the new holiday pack called Joy of Christmas. This paper pack lends itself easily to more masculine card designs with its holiday greenery and woodgrain patterns. I punched things up with a foiled designer paper design from the new Joyful holiday DSP pack, as well as adding some detailed greenery diecuts using the new Magical Meadow bundle of stamps and dies. I really wanted this to feel like you were looking through a holiday wreath and so I added lots of layers to highlight the greeery. Interested in any of these new holiday products? This catalog goes live for customer orders on September 5th at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time.

At the Stable

The O Holy Night designer series paper lends itself to so many beautiful designs. Today, our journey to Bethlehem culminates at the manger, where the wise men and shepherds have gathered to pay homage to the newborn King with the city of Nazareth in the background and the Star of Bethlehem shining brightly overhead.

The designer series paper serves as the backdrop for this beautiful scene. The Night Divine dies provide every element needed to create the manger scene, and each one has stunning detail. The Stars at Night hybrid embossing folder cuts and embosses gorgeous stars, although the details of the star are difficult to capture on camera. Just look at all of the detail in each of the elements of this card! Stampin’ Up! gave careful thought to designing this suite of products, and it really shows!

Holy Night

The papers included in the O Holy Night designer series paper pack are jaw-droppingly stunning. This diagonal Z fun fold card design affords the opportunity to highlight several patterns while also telling a story through the design, and I just love that.

The base of this card is Night of Navy cardstock. I selected various patterns of the O Holy Night designer paper that felt as though they moved through the Bethlehem story — from the starry sky to the dessert to the village of Nazareth in the distance. O Holy Night is embossed in gold in the starry sky, while the Star of Bethlehem is cut from Smoky Slate using the Stars at Night hybrid embossing folder and dies. A touch of Wink of Stella on the star really makes it sparkle. Can you picture yourself here on that holy night?

Near and Far

The O Holy Night card pack tells the Christmas story, and today we are following along with the Wise Men on their journey to the King. This stunning desert backdrop is a sheet of designer series paper from the O Holy Night paper pack. The wise men and their trusty camels are cut from Early Espresso cardstock using the Night Divine dies and then layered for depth using dimensionals. I wanted the sentiment panel to feel like a scroll. It is diecut from vellum using the Nested Essentials dies and then the sentiment is embossed in gold. A simple but very stunning design.

Follow the Star

Can you imagine how the shepherds must have felt when the sky filled with the voices of the heavenly realm as they received word from Heaven to follow the star to Bethlehem? For this design, I wanted to recreate the awe and wonder of that moment with the Star shining brightly in the sky above.

The O Holy Night designer series paper serves as the stunning midnight backdrop for the shepherds who tend to their flock of sheep. The shepherds and sheep are diecut from Early Espresso using the Night Divine dies and dimensionals provide the depth for the scene. To create a sense of rolling dunes on the horizon, I used wavy trim between the sandy ground and the horizon. The star is diecut using the Stars at Night hybrid embossing folders and dies. Wink of Stella along the ridges provides some depth and sparkle to the star. I didn’t want the sentiment to detract too much from the scene, so I simply embossed it directly into the night sky using gold embossing powder.

This scene feels very lifelike to me. Can you picture yourself here?

Star of Bethlehem

Who’s excited about all of the new products from the SU! Holiday Mini catalog that we previewed on Saturday? Today, we start taking a look at all of the beautiful projects you can make from the products in this catalog.

This is the first design in a brand new Christmas card pack called O Holy Night, which is now available in the Etsy shoppe. And the Star of Bethlehem takes center stage in this star-studded design. The base of the card is Night of Navy cardstock, but the showstopper is the O Holy Night designer series paper which serves as the backdrop for this card. The Star of Bethlehem is cut using the Stars at Night hybrid embossing folder, which combines dry embossing and diecuts. I didn’t want to cover the beautiful starry backdrop, so I chose to place the sentiment on white vellum to give the feeling of a cloud. The sentiment from the Night Divine stamp set is embossed in gold, which helps the eye flow easily from the star to the sentiment panel. The glitter ribbon adds a nice sparkle in the background.

Hometown Christmas

Do you ever attend the Christmas tree lighting held in your local downtown neighborhood? I was in New York City one year when the big tree was delivered in Rockefeller Center. It was the coolest thing to watch them bring in the massive tree and stand it up tall.

I wanted to capture the feel of a holiday tree in the middle of a city center when designing this card. The tree is diecut from Handsome Hunter cardstock and the backing is a piece of gold shimmer vellum, which I think shines through the tiny holes perfectly to give the feel of gold twinkling lights. The myriad of sequins really help capture the feel of sparkly ornaments up and down the tree branches.

Happy Holidays to You

Do you attend parties during the holidays? When I do, I really enjoy admiring the holiday decor. When I was looking for inspiration for this design, I wanted to recreate a festive hall all dressed for a holiday party.

I selected a pattern of the Ever Eden designer paper that most resembled wall paper, and I felt this stripe fit the bill perfectly. I used a small strip of a more ornamental pattern of Ever Eden designer paper to serve as the tree skirt. I decided to keep the tree relatively simple and used white vellum to serve as the backing to show through as ornaments and lights and allowed the lights to twinkle with some Wink of Stella. The holiday banner serves as the perfect backdrop with its sparkling holly and berries.
