Florals in Bloom

Garden Thoughts

As we here in Texas continue to process the losses and devastation caused by the flooding over the holiday weekend, it tends to put you in a more contemplative mood. And it certainly stops you in your tracks and leads you to think of all the things for which we have to be grateful – even in the midst of tragedy. One of the more profound things is not only the outpouring of love and support from neighbors, businesses, and volunteers far and wide, but more importantly the testimonies of faith that so many of these families are sharing with the world. A reminder that no breath is promised but that, through it all, our God faithfully walks with us and beside us.

So today’s card leans into the love and support of neighbor sharing with neighbor. We’re using the beautiful Florals in Bloom suite this week, and I stuck to another very simple design that lets the beautiful paper and a sentiment from Layered Thoughts do all the hard work.

Our card starts with a base of Basic Grey cardstock. I chose the sheet with the stands of smaller flowers from the Florals in Bloom pack and double matted to bring out the more subtle colors of grey in the patterned sheet. The bottom mat is a piece of Cloud Cover cardstock, while the shimmery glimmer paper provides a super sneak peek at the Peaceful Garden glimmer paper pack that will release in the Holiday Mini catalog in the fall. The sentiment from the Layered Thoughts stamp set is stamped on white paper in a combination of Cloud Cover, Fresh Freesia, and Blackberry Bliss. I really loved the layered look of this sentiment. The panel is adhered over navy linen thread & Petunia Pop iridescent ribbon. A few charming shimmer dots add the last bit of twinkle on either side of the sentiment.

Tomorrow we’re going to dive into the stamp sets from this suite!
