I can’t believe it’s Friday, you? This was both the longest and shortest week ever and I haven’t a clue why it felt that way! We have quite a few things on the weekend to-do list. How about you? Aside from prepping a kit class and restocking my Etsy store, we’re planning to swap storage units. It will be a weekend adventure for sure – haha!

But how about we get to our task at hand – Sketchy Fridays! For those of you who are new here, Sketchy Fridays is a weekly series where we’re using a card sketch to design our featured card. Right now, we’re working through a full series of designs using the card sketches found in current Stampin’ Up! catalogs.
This week’s card is based on Sketch #1 from the Stampin’ Up! January Mini Catalog. Today, we’re pairing up our featured products for this week – the Floral Delight patterned paper and vellum packs, along with the Beautiful Butterflies dies – to create a stunning thank you card.

Our card design begins with a base of white cardstock. I chose the yellow gingham pattern from the Floral Delight paper pack to serve as the main backdrop for design. The yellow floral sheet from the pack has been cut with the Perennial Postage dies and serves as the center focal panel background. Our focal image panel is a piece of the Floral & Gingham vellum that is diecut with one of the larger Spotlight on Nature dies and is adhered to the background panel with dimensionals. I cut the base for the butterfly from Peach Pie glimmer paper and then cut the details from black cardstock and adhered all of the butterfly elements together with mini glue dots and set it atop our vellum panel with dimensionals. The sentiment from the Heart Shaped set is stamped in Crushed Curry on white cardstock and then diecut with the smaller die from the Mixed Labels set. I adhered a bow of Daffodil Delight ribbon behind the sentiment panel, which ties the background and sentiment panels together nicely. The sentiment panel sits atop a label diecut from the Old Olive Season of Elegance foiled paper which is centered on a longer label cut from the Old Olive Floral Delight sheet with the Beautiful Butterflies banner die. The full sentiment section is adhered at the base of the center focal panel with dimensionals. The focal panel is wrapped with gold thread to tie all of our sparkly elements together and then adhered to the card base with dimensionals. I added drusy embellishments across the card front for that extra pop.
What do you think of this take on Sketch #1 from the January Mini? I really love how it came out. I hope to finish off our design series tomorrow with a little home decor.
